Let me make clear that my experience with 502 storage was at their Bardstown Rd location (which they just sold to Public Storage). It was a new facility; accessible, clean, secure, and well run by the resident manager.
However, without advance notice or any concern for their tenants, the two guys who own 502 sold the Bardstown Rd. location to Public Storage. Anyone who has ever dealt with Public Storage, knows that they are money-grubbing &astards.
I arrived at the Bardstown Rd location late last week to find the gate standing wide open and being told that one of the first things Public Storage plans to do is remove all the security cameras--because, if they had cameras, that would imply that they have responsibility for the safety and security of tenants and their belongings.
The fine-print in the Public Storage lease agreement is that they have no responsibility for anything. With Public Storage, you're on your own. Of course, the next change will be raising the rent and adding "administrative" fees, and being forced to buy the PS renter's insurance (which according to the fine print, again, makes them liable for nothing).
502 seems to be doing the same thing on Preston Highway that they did on Bardstown Rd, adding units, doing a little fix-up, and 6 months from now you'll be forced to accept Public Storage or move again.
I'm going somewhere else. If I have to be deal with a corporate behemoth, it will be CubeSmart.
